This year’s NRMP Match-week was very successful for AMEC/ACOM-affiliated programs. A total of 71 PGY-1 slots were filled in six programs at five different hospitals. Gadsden Regional Medical Center matched six for its inaugural class of residents to their Family Medicine program. Southeast Health matched 12 residents for its first Transitional Year class as well! Southeast Health, South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, and Thomas Hospital have all increased the sizes of their residency classes by three, two, and four respectively.
Altogether, in July of 2022 there will be 160 residents in AMEC-affiliated GME programs, an increase from 124 in 2021. In the 2023 Match, AMEC anticipates a number of additional programs to match for their inaugural classes.
